FAA Pilot requirements

 

Certified Instructor Helicopter (CFI)

 

Eligibility requirement

a) Be at least 18 years old.
b) Be able to read, speak, write and understand the English language.
c) Hold a second class medical certificate.
d) Hold a private pilot certificate.
e) Pass the written exam.
f) Pass the oral and practical test.

Aeronautical experience

150 hours total flight time.
100 hours must be in powered aircraft, of which 50 hours must be in helicopters.
100 hours of pilot-in-command flight time which includes at least :
35 hours in helicopters
10 hours in cross-country.

" 20 hours flight training (dual)
including: 10 hours of instrument training
2 hours day cross-country of more than 50 NM.
2 hours night cross-country of more than 50 NM.
3 hours within 60 days before check-ride.

" 10 hours solo
including : 5 hours of night flight.
1 cross-country with landings at a minimum of
three points, with one segment of at least 50 NM.
